I just wanted to write this letter to commend your technician, Fabian, for the work he performed while responding to my home’s a/c unit emergency. Fabian’s attention to detail was evident from the start, he took the time to methodically figure out why my a/c unit had stopped working showing a great deal of skill. Hi, Ray!

Just confirming our very happy success story from doing business with you and Metro Environmental. We used to keep our thermostat set to 75 in the summer and the best our old unit could do would be to cool our house to 78 on a hot (101+) day. Our electric bills last summer were between $470 and $520 in the hottest months of the year. Now, with the new unit and air ducts, our bills ranged between $225 and $240, so we are very pleased with the savings, and our house is a cool 72 degrees, even on the hottest days!

Metro’s service was excellent, too – including your help with getting our unit installed quickly when our old unit died!

Thank you for all of your help! We will take good care of this unit with your maintenance plan so I hope to never buy another unit again! We are old, so it’s OK! J

Replaced all existing fiberglass return and discharge plenums with metal plenums, upgrades all duct runs with new more insulated duct, and topped out additional attic insulation to a depth of 23 inches. They removed all old equipment and cleaned up the area in the attic better than it was. Re: Commendation for Ray A. Gossage

I would like to highly commend your sales consultant, Ray Gossage. Because of him, I bought a whole new Trane HVAC system from you last month and I am extremely pleased with all phases of the analysis, proposal, negotiations, cost/value, terms, and comfort/efficiency of the product. Most unexpectedly, he also gave expert attention to anything that would have decreased the new system’s efficiency. Because Ray, exceeded my expectations, I wanted to go beyond verbal praise to him and explain why he was so valuable to me.

My old HVAC system currently had irreparable Freon leaks. Also, the one unit I had never worked well for heating and cooling my two story home and we had paid several repairmen and a consultant over the years to try to correct the problem. Now, I wanted a whole new, efficient HVAC system and real expertise. These types of systems are quite costly so I felt justified in seeking outstanding customer satisfaction.

I knew that Consumer Reports doesn’t even rate the HVAC systems now as they noted that it is all in the evaluation and installation in today’s market. So, I interviewed several contractors; some had been commended in Angie’s List. I eliminated them because either they didn’t answer my questions, their price was 40% higher without explanation, they didn’t provide a detailed proposal, etc. I found that while they might be good at repairs or new home installations, retrofitting a new system in an existing home and moving it to the attic as I requested, needs a lot more expertise. –

A home builder/friend helped me get contractor pricing through one of his contractors who also sold Trane. I was fairly confident that they would serve me as well as they could to ensure that they wouldn’t lose his new home HVAC business. When they did a computer analysis of what size Condenser my home needed, he reported that I needed a still-bigger condenser. While I had learned on-line that the number of windows, sun exposure, etc., are as important in this evaluation as the home’s square footage, I knew that we had already increased the size back in 1995. I was therefore somewhat skeptical. So, I wanted another company to verify it.

I picked your company’ through the Trane web site because Metro was one of the few contractors listed in this area as “Comfort Specialists.” I requested a same-day “competitive bid” plus analysis. You ensured that a sales rep would respond that day and offered to match my price should I choose to use Metro.

Ray came out immediately. He was clean cut, professional, and knowledgeable. He did a close inspection on every area involved – including my very hot attic. He also gave me so much information, that for the first time in my life, I didn’t have any questions left that hadn’t been already answered.

His computer study verified the need for a bigger unit, but he explained (and showed me) my home’s specific inefficiencies – including those that didn’t involve any profit for Metro. To my delight, he included many of those things in the same price — or charged me VERY nominally — to fix them. Some examples:

A. I had paid an HVAC company last year to replace ALL my defective “grey” ductwork that was leaking air badly. Ray showed me the ductwork in the back of the attic had not even been replaced!

B. One of the vents for the duct in the attic had been half covered up with plywood for attic flooring in 1995. I hadn’t known this and it made it impossible to connect up one of the ducts to it. Therefore, that duct was cooling (and heating) my attic all these years and the Master Bathroom had not had any cool (or warm) air directed to it. Even the guy who replaced that duct left it unconnected!

C. He found that five of my wall registers were the ceiling type; thus, it was directing the air sideways instead of directly out into the room. (That change made a very BIG difference!)

I asked Ray to write out all corrections, promises and proposal with all details on equipment and line item pricing. I presumed it would take a long time. However, he showed me that he had already input it on a form in his laptop. This detailed checklist and specific changes I needed were on there and we reviewed it thoroughly. I told him how very smart and unusual that is — even for commercial contractors. He mentioned that he developed it. (Purchasing for large corporations was my career.) Brilliant.

Before he left, he gave me his cell phone number for contact with any questions or problems. What a good feeling to know that he always follows through on his promises and that Metro backs them.

I am lucky to have found Metro and I’m sure that you must benefit greatly from having such an employee. Please pass along my deepest appreciation to Ray and thank you so much for valuing, and/or developing, such good employees. Customer satisfaction must be your company’s middle name.

I understand that you might be the appropriate person at Trane for me to commend a particular dealer’s employee, Ray Gossage, for how well he helped me with an analysis and installation of a high efficiency Trane HVAC system and “CleanEffects” air cleaner. Ray was outstanding and THE reason I bought Trane, used Metro Environmental Services (Lewisville, TX) for the sales and installation, and am very, very happy with the outcome.

I would also like to commend ‘Metro’ for finding and keeping an employee of his caliber. I have a very strong feeling that the support he got from “Metro,’ and the unbelievable installation crew were because of the goal Mr. and Mrs. Thomason tout on their website, www.buytrane.com:

“Our goal is to provide the most user friendly and comprehensive service and installation experience possible. We believe quality customer service begins and ends with people helping people.”

As a very experienced and educated customer (I have analyzed and selected products and services for very large corporations for years), I have never been so impressed. I wish I could use Ray Gossage and ‘Metro’ to do all my future contractor needs

Finally, I would also like to thank The Trane Company for the “Comfort Specialist” training and ranking that you provide. I included them in the bid process because of that. As you can see from the thank you letters I sent to Mr. John Thomason at ‘Metro,’ they found and fixed a lot of problems that had gone undiscovered for years that helped the efficiency of my new Trane equipment. No other bidder had. During the installation, If they came across something unexpected, they just took care of it and didn’t increase the price.

Because of this and the Trane products, I finally have a comfortable home for the first time in 12 years. And it is whisper quiet!

Please commend Ray Gossage, the crew, and the owners at ‘Metro,’ Mr. and Mrs. John Thomason, for me for this outstanding service. Perhaps you should have an even higher ranking for this caliber of service!

I just wanted to write a separate commendation for the ‘Metro’ crew that installed my new HVAC system in July.

This was a complex retrofit for several reasons: I substantially increased the size and efficiency of the HVAC system, my home has been expensively remodeled and landscaped and I feared damage, and I have several items (that I was previously unaware of) that needed to be replaced or fixed that would have substantially reduced the efficiency of the new system.

We had a four man crew the first day: Luis, Fabian, Cesar, and David. They promised not to leave that day without my A/C working. At 6:30pm, I tried to get them to go home, insisting that I had a friend’s place nearby where I could stay overnight. They remained and worked until 9:00pm, making sure that everything was vacuumed, cleaned, and the old system completely removed from the premises.

The next day, there were two (Luis and Fabian) back to finish the job. I believe they were there until about 8:00pm. These guys were so professional, courteous, responded to my special requests (without having to get permission from the top) with a smile, and even made suggestions that ensured my total satisfaction.

Please congratulate them, as I congratulate you, for hiring, training, and keeping these fantastic employees. They went far above and beyond my expectations and helped make me a long term customer.

“I got an energy audit from Coserve this week and with that, came my calculations on electrical usage back to January of ’03. (You will remember that we exchanged my unit out in early July of ’07 I believe.) And you will recall that I had a few other things going on that contributed to a lack of A/C efficiency other than just a more efficient system which you found. But here are my stats: My May 08 usage was 36% less than last year (a cooler, rainier month last year) and 49% less than the average use from May ’03, ’04, ’05, ’06 & ’07. My August ’07 use was 89% less than ’06 and 62% less than the average of August ’03, ’04, ’05, & ’06. You can quote me if you like. I’m pressed. It should get even better when I fix a few more things that I’ve been meaning to get to: door insulation & attic entry insulation.”

We did check your firm with the Better Business Bureau of Dallas and were impressed that you were the only Trane Dealer that did not have any complaints in the last 36 months.

Mr. Gossage (your lead) provided excellent pre-sales through post-sales support. During pre-sales – he provided information regarding Trane’s available solutions. He did everything Trane mentioned on their website – heat load calculation, references, providing a written proposal, etc. During post-sales he checked the installation, reviewed the usage of the impressive Trane thermostat and provided additional usage and energy savings information.

Your installation Team (lead by Luis) did an amazing effort. I cannot possibly enumerate all the things, checks, etc. that they did to onsure a successful installation. They took the time to be professional, explain what they were doing (when asked), made sure the environment was ready and functioning and cleaned up after. You are a very lucky employer to have such a Team doing this work. To sum it up – they are true craftsmen that take pride in their work.
